The Big Upgrades: 4K/240fps and 14 Stops of Dynamic Range

The headline feature is the jump to 4K/240fps. While the Pocket 3 was a slow-motion beast at 120fps, the Pocket 4 doubles that, allowing for ultra-smooth, cinematic “dream-sequence” footage without sacrificing resolution.

Combined with 14 stops of dynamic range (up from the previous model), the sensor now handles harsh Texas sunsets and deep shadows with the grace of a professional cinema camera. It also introduces a “True D-Log” 10-bit profile—moving away from the more processed D-Log M—giving you a flatter, more flexible image for post-production grading.

Hardware Refinements: No More “SD Card Full” Anxiety

One of the most practical changes is the addition of 107GB of internal high-speed storage.

  • The Benefit: If you forget your microSD card or it hits capacity mid-shoot, you have a massive safety net that supports transfer speeds up to 800MB/s via USB 3.1.
  • New Controls: DJI added a dedicated zoom button and a 5D joystick to the body, allowing for tactile control of the new 4x digital/2x lossless zoom without having to fumble with the touchscreen.

Smarter Solo Shooting with ActiveTrack 7.0

For vloggers, the transition from ActiveTrack 6.0 to ActiveTrack 7.0 is significant. It is much better at recognizing and locking onto pets, vehicles, and faces, even when you’re zoomed in. It also introduces Gesture Control—you can now start recording or toggle tracking simply by showing your palm or a “V” sign to the camera.

Is the “Pro” Model Coming?

If you’re holding out for even more power, rumors point toward a DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Pro launching in June 2026. That model is expected to feature a dual-camera system with 3x optical zoom and a price tag starting around $700.

For most creators, however, the standard Pocket 4 (starting at approximately $499) provides the best balance of portability and professional output. It’s the ultimate “B-camera” that literally fits in your pocket.
